Green Tips This Christmas

French tips with mistletoe! :D This set of nails is pretty easy to create. Coat a layer of OPI Isn't That Precious, followed by a few coats of transparent minute gold shimmer. This would give it a slight shimmer under the light. Use CG Glittering Garland on the nail tips and use a stripper brush to draw a line across, below the green tips. Using a dotter, dot three red dots for the mistletoe. For the leaves, use a small brush to paint it on. And there you go!

Christmas Nails!

Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. There's something so festive and joyful about it. :)

Anyway, this year I had requests from my friends to do their nails for them, so I came up with a few rough designs, some with reference to online sources.

This design is based on a snowy theme. There's a snowflake on the thumb, a snowman on the middle finger and icicles on the pinky. The alternate dark and light blue was my friend's idea, and it turned out really nice! I feel that the dark blue does give more contrast to the design.

This set of nails was inspired by a photo of reindeer nails I saw online. I thought having the reindeer face on the nail was really cute. But I didn't want every nail to have a reindeer face, so I added the antlers. Initially, I left the middle nail a plain white, but my friend wanted the silver glitter stripes. Turned out it really looked more festive after adding the stripes. Both the pinky and thumb are just a plain brown (OPI Wooden Shoe Like To Know).

DAY 11: Polka Dots

It was my bestie's 21st birthday yesterday, and her theme was polka dots. So I did this set of nails, for her birthday and it falls in line with the theme for DAY 11 of the nail challenge.

I first painted two coats of OPI's Isn't That Precious?, followed by a blue polish from faceshop on the tips. Using a dotter, I used OPI's Mummy Knows Best to create the dots. With a stripper brush, I used OPI's Last Friday Night (Katy Perry Collection!!) to line the tips. And TA-DA!! Polka dotted tips are born!

Rilakkuma Nails

I have a few friends who are crazy about Rilakkuma and I thought it would look pretty cute on the nails. I've seen some shops selling files or notebooks with the Rilakkuma face like that and decided to try it out on my nails. I know many people have already done similar designs or maybe even the same, but I just couldn't resist trying it myself since my friends were so crazy about it.

The yellow polish is borrowed from my friend, Joanna, it's OPI Need Sunglasses?. The brown is OPI's Wooden Shoe Like To Know ? mixed with a little Need Sunglasses?. The cream colour is attained by mixing white polish with Need Sunglasses?. The orange is OPI He's My Boo.

I took the photo before I cleaned up the sides of the nails, so it is a little messy. The one below is taken after I cleaned up the sides and there you go. Rilakkuma nails!

This design actually looks better on shorter nails. For longer nails, I suggest drawing the faces horizontally instead of vertically. Else the faces would end up looking kinda long, which was the mistake I made. Who says short nails can't look pretty! :D

Halloween: Eerie Moonlight Nails

I wanted to create a look of the eerie moonlight so I used China Glaze's Bizarre Blurple, from this year's Halloween Collection, as a base colour. To get the moonlight glow, I mixed two colours together, a light yellow (from Etude House) and OPI's Let's See The Ring. Since the OPI colour is a pearl white, it gave this pearly yellow colour which is what I wanted for the glow. This was sponged onto my ring finger, which you can see is brighter than the rest of the nails. On the other nails, I sponged on a grey which I mixed by myself too. The same OPI colour plus black polish and I added a little drop of yellow. I intended to make a 'fog effect' but.... I guess it didn't turn out that well. I only drew the designs on after coating two coats of OPI's Zom-body To Love.

Ok. Here is my left thumb and my right thumb. On the left thumb is the sponged on yellow and the right is the grey. The yellow has a nicer eerie glow than the foggy grey.

Sorry about the drawings. I can't seem to paint the lines thinly, so the tree turned out kinda ugly. Maybe I should have used a stripper brush instead. And obviously I paint even worse with my left hand. :/
And once again, Happy Halloween!

Halloween: Pumpkin Nails!

Time for some Halloween fun! We don't have the tradition of celebrating Halloween with pumpkin craving or 'trick or treat'-ing in my country, but there are events around (Example, Sentosa's Halloween Horror Nights).   Just for the fun of it, I decided to try some pumpkin craving nails. I had major trouble controlling the brush with my left hand, hence the thick lines/drawings. And yes there are two smiley faces, which I won't deny, were drawn because I really ran out of ideas.

I used OPI Spookettes collection for this set of nails. The orange base is He's my Boo, black is I Only Date Werewolves and the light orange lines is a pastel orange colour from Etude House. I actually coated a layer of the glow-in-the-dark polish, Zom-body to Love but the glowing isn't really obvious! Its really faint and it only lasts for awhile.

My friend was saying that my pumpkin faces were all cute, even the scary ones. So I showed her this one on my left hand, which I drew using my right hand. With better control, I attained a scary face. Wahahaha!!!! Happy Halloween!

DAY 10: GRADIENT nails

Gradient nails! I decided to use an ocean-ish theme for the this set of gradient nails. The reason why there is only one lonely dolphin on my ring finger is because I actually dislike sticking 3D stuff on my nails. Firstly, I really doubt that this little dolphin is still gonna be there by tomorrow morning. Secondly, with 3D deco, washing my hair is a hassle!! It will get trapped and all when washing, plus the worry that it'll just fly off when I pull it through my hair.

I actually coated two coats of Zoya Maisie to give the nice fleck effect (ocean-ish look!), which isn't obvious in the first photo, but more obvious in this one. Its more obvious in actual. And here it is, gradient nails, wrapping up the 'colour segment' of the 31 Day Challenge.

Here is what I used.
From left to right: OPI Let's See The Ring, O2 Skin Nail Polish, 3 blue Faceshop Nail Polish and Zoya Maisie.

DAY 9: RAINBOW NAILS

Yeah! Finally I had the time to do my rainbow nails. I used OPI's Let's See The Ring as a base colour and sponged on 6 pastel shades. Pink, blue, orange, yellow, green and purple. Topcoat it and here it is! Kinda reminds me of the paddle pop ice cream...

DAY 8: METALLIC NAILS

Metallic nails! I used gold metallic and black polish (from faceshop) for the base, then used China Glaze's crackle polish, Black Mesh and Platinum Pieces.

DAY 7: BLACK AND WHITE nails

Dalmatian nails for the Black and White nails! OPI's Mummy Knows Best (a gift for my birthday, thank you friend!) is used for the based and only using a dotter, I drew on the prints and the paws. The french tips were done using the brush from the polish itself. Essie's Matte About You was used, it gives a better Dalmatian feel than the shiny lacquer.

Zoya Maisie over Black Polish

Zoya Maisie is really an interesting polish! The flakes are green at one angle and blue at another. Kinda reminds me of fish scales.. haha! ok mermaid scales sound better?

Layering it over black polish allows the colour to stand out more I'm not sure if layering it on white will have the flakes be as striking as it is on the black.

Ribbon Nails for Elaine's 21st!

This coming Friday I'll be attending my friend's, Elaine, 21st birthday. Her theme is Ribbons & Bows. Pretty cute ya? I did these set of nails to suit that theme. Its a little messy as I had a really hard time controlling the brush, especially when drawing the outline of the bow.

I coated a layer of OPI's Isn't That Precious, then drew the green tips with China Glaze's Glittering Garland. Then came the difficult task of drawing those ribbons. And here is the final 'masterpiece'.

I tried the new Seche Vite quick dry top coat and it really dries fast!!

Zoya Maisie

Early this year, I chanced upon a weblink and found Zoya nail polish, Fleck Effect. I really fell in love with the colours and the flecks! It looked really nice and I wanted to get Maisie. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any online shops selling it (besides Ebay, etc). I also found out that they do not ship to Singapore so there was no way I could be buying it from them (not that I have a card of any sort to begin with).

Just recently, I went to Nex's Ministry of Cube and found a few collections of Zoya polish!! And there it was! Maisie! And so, I went back to get it today, along with a bottle of Seche Vite. I have no idea how good Seche Vite is, to be honest. My friend did recommend it to me, saying that it really does dry the nails fast.

I'll write more again after trying both out. Stay tuned! :)

Froggy Nails! (feat. Joanna)

These froggy nails belong to my friend, Joanna. Quite a while back, we saw some fimo sticks in a shop and she found this frog really cute. So she bought it to try.

Cutting the stick to have thin and even slices were really tough! In the end we only managed to get thicker slices but at least they were complete. Quite a few had an eye missing or half a frog.

Pretty cute eh! :D

OPI: Wooden Shoe Like To Know?

I couldn't resist and bought a bottle of nail polish. This bottle of polish has been on my wishlist for quite awhile and today it's fulfilled! :D [shall take it as a post-exam gift to myself] Hope to try it out soon!!

M&M nails

I bought a pack of Easter M&Ms and my friends commented that the colours of my Easter nails were similar to that of the M&Ms. So, why not make M&M nails!! Its pretty cute for a non-Easter season too!

I used Essie's Matte About You for the matte effect.

Happy Easter!

Easter is the Sunday after Good Friday. Good Friday is the day which commemorates the day which the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for us. Easter Sunday would be the day he rose again, conquering the grave.

Easter is mostly associated with Easter eggs and Easter bunnies for the little children and I decided to do my nails with light pastel colours with fun patterns.

Do remember what the Lord has done and sacrificed for us this Easter and have fun! After all, it is a joyous occasion for us to celebrate. Thank you Jesus! :)

Revlon Red: Raven Red

This is the last of the Revlon Reds, Raven Red. Today is my parents' wedding anniversary, so I decided to do something with hearts. This would make for Valentine's Day which I missed as it was during my prelims period.

I used a dotter and a small brush to draw the hearts, somehow I wasn't able to paint the hearts nicely with just the brush alone, so I had to use the dotter to help. The small dots were also made with the dotter.

Happy wedding anniversary Mum and Dad! :)

Simple and Sweet Dotted Nails

I decided to try something simple and sweet. Dots were simple and fast to do (as I'm still studying for my upcoming exams, its difficult to spend more time on my nails). Lighter pink shade is OPI Isn't That Precious and darker pink shade is Japanese Rose Garden. I used a dotter to dot on white polish. Apply top coat and done. :)

Revlon Reds: Cherry Berry

A really nice berry colour. A little like really dark pink yet reddish. Something different if you're tired of the usual reds. Application is really smooth too. Same as the Revlon Red, the colour is also strong with one coat. For better coverage, I used two coats.

Revlon Red

Prelims started this week! I squeezed out some time to paint my nails. Red for luck? haha.

Loving this red! I actually didn't expect to like it this much. Application is really smooth and the colour is pretty strong at the first coat. I applied a second coat for better coverage though.

Loving this.

Revlon Reds

I received a gift from my friend today. Its a box of Revlon nail enamels. 3 different shades of red. Revlon Red, Cherry Berry and Raven Red.

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of red and I don't really know how to appreciate the colour.

After opening the box, I think the reds look pretty intimidating to me. I've yet to try it out though.

Recently I'm not able to do more nail designs or even have my nails painted currently.

Firstly, the past week have been spent rushing assignments, studying for tests and doing tutorials. I just didn't have the time to paint my nails. Hence there were no new posts.

Secondly, I might not be painting my nails till another week or more. It may not be that obvious in the photo on the right, but my nails are currently very very yellow. So I think I might give it a rest for awhile.

My prelims are round the corner, so you might be hearing lesser from me for awhile. Sorry about that.

Chinese New Year 2012

It's Chinese New Year tomorrow! I did my nails just yesterday and didn't have the time to do for anyone else. Sorry to those who asked me and I couldn't do for you this year!

I normally do my nails to suit the clothes I wear. This year I'll be wearing a cream coloured dress with flora prints, so I didn't want any strong colours. I decided to do a light shade for my nails with more feminine touch.

I used OPI Isn't That Precious as a base and layered gold glitter polish on certain portions where I was going stamp the designs on, I added on gold 3D stickers too.

DAY 6: VIOLET nails

Before I started on my assignment, I decided to paint my nails first. I'm doing DAY 6: violet nails. I borrowed this nail polish from my friend, Joanna, who got it from Forever 21. It full of micro glitters! After 3 coats, I achieved this really nice glittery purple nails. :)

My 21st Bday Nails!

I am officially 21! :D Not that it really makes that much of a difference to me..

Anyway, the theme for my party was white and blue, so I decided to do my nails with both colours, plus a little glitter for a nicer and complete look.

I'm using China Glaze's Frostbite on pearly white polish with blue glitter on the tips.
